Mini Splits (or Ductless Air Conditioning) are one of our most versatile systems. The air handler can be in the ceiling, high up on the wall, or close to the floor. Mini Splits replace inefficient window units, dangerous space heaters, and electric baseboard heaters.

They got their name from separating its components. The indoor unit is the evaporator; the outdoor unit is the condenser. The inconspicuous indoor unit and small outdoor heat pump earns the “mini” name.

The best part: You don’t have to discard your current system; a Mini Split can be an addition to your existing HVAC system! The Mitsubishi Mini Split system is flexible enough for your changing requirements.

Here’s a few ideal situations for a Mini Split system:

  • An attic recently converted into a bedroom or office
  • Garage that gets excessively hot in the summer
  • A chilly finished basement
  • Enclosed sun room that’s too hot in summer or too cold in winter
  • An addition that’s too much for your current system

How does it work?

Unlike typical central air, it does not rely on air ducts to route air throughout your home. Instead, it uses copper refrigerant tubing that’s heated or cooled by the condensing (outside) unit. Then, the evaporating (inside) unit utilizes the refrigerant to keep the room at the set temperature.

Adding a unit is simple! The only renovation that’s done is a 3” opening to run the required lines to the condenser. This allows installation in more difficult areas. These can be installed in as little as one day leaving you with a much smaller installation bill than central air.
The sleek, inconspicuous air-handler units can mount anywhere! And with some condensers supporting up to 6 evaporators, you can accomplish a lot of comfort!

Custom comfort and flexibility

The mini split system offers heating and cooling on a room-by-room basis. A running system is continuously adjusting airflow to keep the room a pleasant temperature. This allows the system to be more efficient due to it playing catch up less often.

Furthermore, with a sound level as low as 19 decibels, you’ll hardly hear it. That’s because the part doing the hard work is outside! No need to be disturbed by the noise of an old furnace kicking on.

Changing or cleaning filters is a breeze. Since the filters are in the unit located inside, you don’t have to go to the basement or get into any tight spots to clean them. The filters are reusable and can last for up to 10 years.

What’s more comfortable than not needing to leave the couch to adjust the temperature? An included remote-control thermostat or mobile app makes the system easy to operate!

ENERGY STAR rated for high efficiency!

Mini Splits can be up to 40% more efficient than other traditional ways of zone heating or cooling. That’s because it uses exactly the amount of energy that’s needed at a given moment to maintain comfort – no more, no less. The elimination of ductwork is another potential to increase efficiency. Up to 25% of energy loss can be through ducts and only less than 5% in refrigerant lines.
